We've forgone the Tracy McGrady welcome entry to be cornily titled Return of the Mac. Despite an auspicious beginning to McGrady's Knick career, the game itself surely spurred Mac 10 handle-esque evenings for many a Proud One.
Oh, word? Just me? Well, nevermind then.
Tonight the New York Knicks celebrated their annual Legends Night, which I can only assume will honor the same handful of guys for as long as it continues. Last year's Legends Night saw an appreciation ceremony for Willis Reed, Carl Braun, Richie Guerin, Walt Frazier, Tricky Dick McGuire, Bernard King and Patrick Ewing. Tonight's affair celebrated the 1970 championship team the only way The Proud Franchise knows how to, with a deflating 83-67 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
I mean, come on. For as proud as Knicker Lovers may be, there are only two championships and 9 jerseys hanging in the rafters. They'll be having Legends Night repeats as early as 2012.
In typical Knick fashion, both Legends Nights hosted crushing losses in which the present incarnation of The Proud Franchise absolutely caved down the stretch of the contest. Tonight's loss was the Knicks seventh consecutive and 16th of the last 20 games.
Word? The 1970 champions are in the house, and you can't not play like prison bitches for the evening? Can you resume being a laughing stock tomorrow when Nate Robinson exacts his revenge with his newfound Kryptonate green buddies?
As per usual, Eddie House jawed incessantly at the opposing bench. This time the object of House's affection was inactive Bucks forward/center Kurt Thomas. While House maintained his chatter throughout the evening, Thomas sat calmly and waited for his vindication at the final buzzer. You see, Thomas was once a Knick. And while he played during and represents a prouder era, he's seen this movie hundreds of times.
Thomas didn't want to ruin the film for House, but already knew that the orange and blue guy dies at the end.
And die he did. The undersized Knicks only played hard enough to make the game competitive in spurts, including the final one punctuated by a McGrady three-pointer from straight away. Apparently, a fan in the twelfth row caught T-Mac's titanium-alloy kneecap immediately following the shot, which brought New York to within 9 points. The Knicks would only add a shit-tastic two points to their tally over the game's final 6 minutes en route to a season-low.
New Knick Sergio Rodriguez started in place of Chris Duhon, who didn't log a single minute. Duhon's benching tonight is akin to one tossing an Albuterol inhaler onto the chest of a child who had already died of an asthma attack three hours earlier.
Yes, that's all about as awesome as an unidentifiable rash about the genitals. However, it is nice to see Mike Slane's Pravda-like coverage of Knick losses making the front page of Knicks.com. Madison Square Garden was just pretending like they weren't happening for a while there.

so you're saying you liked watching my thunders smack your team up huh? hahahahahaha...

You're the Bob Uecker of the Knicks:
"The Knicks would only add a shit-tastic two points to their tally over the game's final 6 minutes en route to a season-low."
They should let you call the simulcast and see which one gets more viewers.
